[INTERVIEW] 130904 NU′EST Talks Weird Sleeping Habits and Nail Art

K-Pop fans can stop daydreaming about NU′EST′s return, as the boys recently splashed back onto the scene with new electro-pop single Sleep Talking, and their new concept certainly has people talking - us included.

Mwave was given the opportunity to ask NU′EST a few of our burning questions, so read on to see what the boys had to say!

How would you describe your new single [Sleep Talking]’s concept?

Minhyun: ‘Sleep Talking’ is a song with a ‘mystic fantasy’ concept that NU’EST is trying out for the first time. In order to give off a mysterious and fantasy-like feel through the song and our performances, we tried to create a devilish, yet bright feel not only musically, but visually as well.

Do any of the members actually sleep talk or have weird sleeping habits?

JR: Baekho sleep talks in real life. Baekho talks in his sleep a lot, and it’s to the point that you can have a conversation with him [Laughs]. There have been funny incidents when we woke him up in the morning, and he told us the wrong schedule or said things even he doesn’t remember [Laughs].

Ren’s nail art really stood out to us in the music video – do you enjoy nail art?

Ren: Normally, I just keep my nails tidy, but when we have promotions, I get nail art done to match the music or visual concept. That’s how I naturally became interested in it, and these days, I look for and research good nail art designs [Laughs]. Recently, I had our fan club name L.O.Λ.E printed on my nails, and I felt proud.

Since making your debut, what moment felt the most like a dream?

Aron: Every time we stand on stage for a performance feels like a dream. When we see all the fans who love us, singing along to our songs and enjoying themselves with us, I wonder if this is reality. The excitement and energy at concerts is an indescribable feeling.

Where was your favorite place in the world to perform?

Minhyun: Our recent trips to Taiwan and Turkey were memorable. Although we haven’t made our official debut in Taiwan yet, we went to Taiwan because of the fans there who love us, but Aron hyung, who was really sick at the time, couldn’t be with us. That’s why we’re still sad and want to go back.

We went to Turkey to spread K-Pop and had a good time with the K-Pop fans there. The country itself is beautiful, which was memorable, but it’s the fans, who like our music, that left a deep impression on us.

Are there any countries you want to visit in the future?

JR: There isn’t a particular place that comes to mind. We want to go anywhere that we’re called. But there is a place we’re curious about! America, where Aron hyung was born and raised [Laughs]. I want to go because I’m curious about the environment he grew up in! We’ll have a chance to go soon, right?
